Rebecca Meehan, AWCF
Senior Farrier – Ashmount Forge
Becky is one of the senior farriers at Carlburg Stables since 2019. In addition she manages the podiatry care of the mares at Stanley House Stud. In both roles consistency, organisation and attention to detail are critical.
Becky qualified as an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (AWCF) in 2014, becoming only the fourth woman in the UK to achieve that level.
She has worked extensively with Roger Varian’s stable and has been involved in the care and shoeing of elite racehorses including King of Steel, Charyn and Bayside Boy. Her role extends beyond routine shoeing into the wider management of the horses under her care.
Rebecca brings a broad equestrian background to her farriery. She has worked and ridden in showjumping, breeding and production yards, and has owned and produced horses from a young age. That wider experience underpins her practical judgement, her rapport with both horses and people, and her ability to operate calmly and effectively in busy, demanding yards.
Within Ashmount Forge, Rebecca is known for her organisation, consistency and people skills, and for being a dependable senior presence within the wider team structure. Alongside her work with Ashmount Forge, Rebecca runs her own farriery practice with her husband, Adam Meehan, serving a number of racing stables and studs in the area.
