Angus Rowe, Dip (WCF)

Senior Farrier – Ashmount Forge

Angus served his apprenticeship under Rebecca Lowe, qualifying with the Diploma of the Worshipful Company of Farriers in 2023. He has been immersed in the Thoroughbred industry from the outset of his career, developing a strong practical understanding of the demands placed on racehorses at every stage of training.

Following qualification, Angus joined Ashmount Forge and has since went on to becoming the firm’s first full-time employed farrier, showing the esteem in which he is held. Angus works closely alongside Stephen across a wide range of work, including young stock, veterinary referrals, and multiple pre-training and rehabilitation yards in the Newmarket area. His role is both technical and developmental, combining day-to-day farriery with close observation of horses as they progress through different stages of training and management.

Angus is one of the senior farriers at Carlburg Stables and is both the managing and senior farrier for Oli Rix Racing at Bedford House. In that role he is responsible not only for shoeing but also for overseeing the ongoing hoof care of the yard, ensuring continuity, communication and consistency across the training operation.

Angus brings a broad equestrian background to his work. He has competed at county level in showing and affiliated dressage, and was Junior National Driving Champion in 2012, 2013 and 2014. This foundation in wider horsemanship informs his attention to detail, feel for horses, and quiet, methodical approach to his work.

Still early in his career, Angus has already been involved in the shoeing of Group-level performers including the 1000 Guineas winner Elmalka, alongside numerous other stakes winners. He is known within the team for his conscientiousness, precision and willingness to learn, and is developing steadily within a high-performance environment that places long-term soundness and professionalism at its core.
