Charyn

Charyn announced himself early, gaining Group honours at two and showcased a good level of form throughout his three-year-old season. It was, however, at four that he truly exploded onto the scene. A strong, fast-finishing second in the Lockinge gave a clear indication of what was to come.

At Royal Ascot he produced a comfortable victory in the Queen Anne, confirming his place among the very best. Another major success quickly followed in the Prix Jacqes le Marois. On his return to France he was perhaps a touch unlucky in the Prix du Moulin, finishing once again with his trademark late surge to claim second.

Back at Ascot for Champions Day, heavy rain and testing ground proved no barrier to another dominant performance; that confirmed his position as the Champion Miler.

He closed his campaign with a highly respectable run in Japan, rounding off a season that underlined both his talent and his versatility.

Charyn showed tremendous constitution and courage. His ability to travel into races before quickening decisively was the hallmark of a true champion. As an individual, he was a pleasure to be around and stood as a great testament to his breeder and trainer. We wish him every success as he embarks on his new career at stud in France.
